A film by Lotesend
Everyone has been the stranger at some time: far from where they started, carrying some of it with them, wanting to go back. The Welsh have a word for that longing: hiraeth.
Liverpool was built by people who came from somewhere else, Wales among them, and for a century it was where millions left from, heading west. The film is about what we carry from where we began, and the respect owed to the place a thing came from.
Nothing is won. Something is put back where it belongs.
Be in the world as a stranger, or one passing through.
Shot on Sunday 27 September in Liverpool, on the Wirral and the Mersey ferry, and on Monday 28 September at Nant Gwrtheyrn. Every sound of the sea in the film was recorded at Porth y Nant. No music is laid over it.
The clothes are ours. Lotesend is a menswear house founded in Liverpool and opening from Bradford, making clothes for the road, built to last.
